Endsheet, Pasteddown and Flyleaf

What are the differences

In short, the pastedown and flyleaf are parts of the endsheet.

Endsheet, also called endpapers or endleaf, is a full sheet of paper that connects the book’s cover to the bookblock. It’s folded in half, with one half glued to the inside of the book’s cover and the other half forming a free page. The endsheet consists of both the pastedown and flyleaf.

Pastedown is the left part of the endsheet when opening the front cover. It’s glued directly to the inside of the book’s front cover and remains fixed in place, not moving when you open the book.

Flyleaf is the right part of the endsheet when opening the front cover. It’s the free, unglued half that acts like a loose page. It is the first page you can turn, sitting just before the main content.
