Rosette Pattern

It is a flower-like texture that appears when CMYK halftone dots overlap at different angles. Each color is set at its own angle, and together they form a repeating, stable pattern. To the naked eye it looks like smooth colors, but under a magnifier you can see small circular “petals” across the image.

Can I see it with the naked eye?

Usually no. At higher LPI (150–300) on coated paper, the rosette is too fine to notice. With a loupe you’ll see the flower-like clusters; on low-LPI prints (e.g., newsprint) you may notice some texture.
