Boardbook FAQs

Are your board books waterproof or resistant to spills?
Unless you make a special request, all of our board books come with either a matte or glossy lamination. This makes them resistant to spills, helping protect the pages from moisture. However, they are not fully waterproof.

Can board books have die-cut shapes or windows?
Yes, they can. However, there will be an additional cost for creating the die and applying it. For quantities of 500 or fewer, it may not be cost-effective. If you're planning a larger order, have your design ready and check back with us for an accurate quote.

How thick is the board?
We currently offer one standard thickness for our board books, which is 1mm thick.

Can I print a limited number of copies for a small run?
Our minimum order quantity for board books is 250 copies. However, you'll notice from the quote that the unit price significantly decreases as the quantity increases, because the fixed costs are distributed. If you're looking to test out your board book with a small run, 250 copies is a good option, as you’ll only be paying for the shipping of those 250 copies.

How long does it take from placing an order to receiving the final product?
Production for the board book itself typically takes about 2-3 weeks. For shipping, ocean freight takes approximately 1 month, while air shipping takes about 1 week.

Can I request a sample or proof before placing a large order?
Yes, we offer an offset plate sample, which is highly recommended because it truly represents the production run. This sample is printed on the same press with the same paper and methods, ensuring the closest possible match to the final product.

If you'd like to see how the entire board book will look, we can also provide a digitally printed and bound sample. The advantage of a digitally printed sample is that it gives you a complete view of the book’s design, layout, and binding. However, keep in mind that while it’s great for checking the overall look and feel, the colors may not be as accurate as in the actual production run, which is why the offset plate sample is essential.

Can I write on the boardbook?
Our default board books come with a protective lamination, which makes it more difficult to write on them with a ballpoint pen. However, writing with a pencil is generally okay. If you use a marker, it will take a few seconds to dry; otherwise, it may smudge and become messy.
