Design FAQs

Do I need separate files for the cover and interior?
Yes. For a standard hardcover book, we need three PDFs: one for the interior, one for the cover without a template, and one for the cover with a template visible for positioning purpose. We offer standard cover templates for hardcover, perfect bound, and board books, which you can download from our website.

How do I calculate the spine width for my cover design?
Spine width depends on cover thickness, page count, and paper thickness. There is a spine width estimator on the template page.

Do you offer graphic services?
We do not offer graphic design services. However, if you need help with page alignment, bleed, or other adjustments, our graphic team can assist for $80 per hour.

Can I use my own ISBN for printing?
Yes, you can. Just make sure to include it on the cover as part of your design.

What is Adhesive Case Binding
In this binding method, the book block is attached to the cover without the use of traditional endsheets. Instead, the text block is glued directly to the cover. This method is simpler and cleaner, as it eliminates the glued edge between the endsheet and the book block. However, for books that are relatively large or have a significant number of pages, it is recommended to use traditional endsheet binding, as the endsheet attachment adds extra strength and support to the overall book structure.
